In a Surreal, domesticated world inhabited by two young women where fantasy and excess are the only escapes from reality, let yourselves enter this sensual and chaotic atmosphere created by The Liminal Space’s performers, María Emilia Franchignoni (25) and Sarah Lasry (21), respectively from Argentina and France.
A Nocturnal Suite is a cross-cultural, interdisciplinary, devised work that juxtaposes experimental theatre, movement, and mixed-media. Navigating amongst the influences of Pedro Almodovar, Jean-Luc Godard, Louis Buñuel or glam rock, the piece considers the tensions between fantasy and everyday life as framed by the intertwining of live performance and film.
A Nocturnal Suite aims to explore what constitutes a home in today’s unstable world, and deconstructs the domestic space as usually associated to women in Western Cultural Tradition. Mixing humour with desperation, The Liminal Space uses texts drawn from plays such as Jean Genet’s The Maids, Federico Garcia Lorca’s The House of Bernarda Alba, Sarah Kane’s 4.48 Psychosis and Griselda Gambaro’s La Senora Macbeth. Through these works, the piece portrays fragments of texts where women are trapped within the boundaries of the home and try to dance out of the oppression of everyday life through imagination.
